Project Background:

Project administrator Edward William Kornowski of Buffalo, New York USA has been researching and collecting information about all Kornowski families worldwide since 1996. He has found evidence of Kornowskis in about eight countries. Edward's family originates from village of Rywald, Poland during years of 1839-1878 formerly Prussian territory. The Prussian name of this village was Riewalde.

Project Goals:

There are about 10 families with this same rare surname (400 in all of Poland, and about 400 in USA, about 100 in Germany, and about 30 in Argentina and Brazil) I'm trying to link them to each other. Some families I have linked via documents and records. My goal would be to connect all these families together for once and for all. To either prove or disprove that we Kornowskis are in fact related.
This is a very advanced technology tool available to further the research of genealogy. This scientific method will connect our families in cases where no written or spoken records exists. Future generations of Kornowski's will be glad that we had the foresight to establish this project. After all we are leaving our history to the future generations. If you desire to participate in the project please contact Edward W. Kornowski first to be certain that your sample is needed. It is possible that we already have a sample from your paticular family.

Project News:

Received an Email from a Kornowski in Scotland trying to trace family back to Poland and locate relatives.

My trip to Poland in June 2005 was positive in obtaining DNA samples from some Kornowski families. I am excited to learn the results once I submit the samples for testing. The samples will be submitted at a time when my finances will allow. Some samples will be submitted very soon.

If anyone wants to contribute the project, any amount of money will be greatly appreciated. Money can be sent to the Kornowski account directly through this website using a credit card or checks sent via postal mail. Be sure to specify donations for the Kornowski surname project. Just click on the general fund link on this page.

Project Results:

Project is beginning June 2005. All samples will be tested for the Y-DNA 12 marker test to determine whether or not the families are related. Later further testing my occur to determine how long ago the family connection exists.
