6 distinct groups have formed and are listed as follows below. I have named the group for the most distant ancestor within the group.
1. William Horn 1690's represents kits 42017,and 42154. They match 25/25. A link between William Horn 1690 and Thomas Horn 1777 should be pursued.
2. Richard Horn 1716 represents the largest subgroup with 9 matches and the kits are 51199, N20876, 27959, 30811, 30912, 36125, 30492, and 74138. They all match 12/12 and 5 of them match 25/25. 59068 also is in this group and matches 35/37 alleles meaning that there is a 96.69% chance of him sharing a common ancestor within 16 generations to kit 36125. The ancestors that should be linked here are Joseph Horn 1812 TN, Ephraim Horn 1714, Lawrence Horn 1798, William Horn 1768, Richard Horn 1716, Richard Canon Horn 1795, Sherod Horn 1760, Matthew Horn 1826, and Richard Horn.
3. Elijah Horn 1740 respresents kits 86353, 92332,92333 and 82123. A search for a relationship between Elijah Horn 1740 and Elijah Horn 1774 should be undertaken. 86353 does differ from the others by 2/37 making the chance of a common ancestor in 8 generation about 61%.
4. Thomas Horn 1792 and represents kits 39331, 39172, and 45656. they match at least 11/12 and 2 of them match 12/12. Further testing reveals a 36/37 match with 39331 and 45656 and a 25/25 match with 29172 and 45656. The ancestors to link here are William Riley Horn 1806 Orange Co NC, James Horn 1818 Highland Co, OH, and Thomas Horn Baltimore Co, MD.
5. Henry Horn 1716 -1797, "the Quaker", from eastern North Carolina, represents kits N20178, 32569, 32627, and 58745, these four participants having identical or near identical yDNA markers, a common surname Horn(e), and a paper trail to the same small area of eastern NC in the late 1700's. The first two listed above, Bryan C. Horn and Robert G. Horn are descended from Josiah Horn of Montgomery County, TN, a grandson of Henry the Quaker, via his son William. The third listed participant, Ethelred Horn, was a direct descendant of Henry the Quaker, via Henry's son Joel. The fourth listed in this group, John Long Horne, has a clear paper trail to a Henry Horn of Pitt County NC, born about 1805, although as yet the identity of the parents of Henry Horn of Pitt, NC has not been established. Because Henry Horn the Quaker and Richard Horn 1716 were contemporaries living in the same area of NC, it has been regarded as likely that these two were cousins, sons of William Horn of Nansemond County and Richard Horn of Northampton County, respectively, but the present yDNA data does not support genetic kinship between Henry Horn 1716 and Richard Horn 1716. (Interpretation of Robert G. Horn).
6. Jesse Horne b 1783 Pa represents kits 70736 and N3188 both of whom trace their lineage to this Jesse Horne.
A seventh group may be in order but I am unsure how to classify it as both seem to claim lineage from Christopher Horn 1745 that is the ancestor to the Tom Horn of western fame but their DNA doesn't match at all. These are kits numbered 40024 and 83411 which are distinctly different DNA samples off by 12/12. I guess we need someone else in that line to submit in order to classify it accordingly. For now I will list them separately and see how it shakes out. I suspect there may be a non-paternity event. To make matters worse, the 83411 seems to be Haplotype R1 and 40024 seems to be Haplotype I.
So far the others haven't matched, However, I will list them here to be able to understand what links need to be associated or not.
