Project News:
Even more great news! As of this June, 2006, new test results have arrived, so that we now have three sets of matches between participants!
The newest pair are in the R1b haplogroup, the other two are in the R1a and E3b haplogroups. The newest match is a 37/37, perfect match! It will be very interesting to see what these participants are able to discover about their common ancestry.
All of the matches are clear-cut and show that these participants share definite common ancestry with their matches within recent times. In one case, the relationship between the two lines had been found through traditional genealogical research, for which this provided a most welcome confirmation; in the other cases, the cousins have learned of one another's existence and are excited to have new clues to extend their genealogical knowledge.
We have a number of unmatched participants to whom we hope this will provide greater encouragement to go out and beat the bushes, seeking more Hoovers and Hubers to test, who may provide the next match and the new evidence to solve our family mysteries.
Participants who belong to the R1b haplogroup should remember that unless they order a test of 37 or more markers, this haplogroup tends to be a difficult one in which to distinguish lineages clearly, and recognize true matches. We urge all R1b participants who have not yet tested that many markers, to upgrade their tests to 37 markers if at all possible. Their cost for this upgrade from 12 to 37 would be only $99, and it would also enable some hypotheses to be formed regarding the "deep ancestry" of their lineage and the possible origins of the family within Europe. Please contact the project administrator for more details.

DNA Test Results (Alleles) for Project Members * Haplogroups in green have been
confirmed by SNP testing. Haplogroups in red have
been predicted by Family Tree DNA based on unambiguous results in the
individual's personal page. This has been placed on this GAP page for your ease
and convenience. Please note that for any predicted results we see no reason for
ordering a SNP test to confirm the Haplogroup. if a – is in the HAPLO field then
we feel that the comparative results are not clear and unambiguous and if the
kit holder wants to know their SNP with 100% confidence they may consider
ordering a SNP confirmation test.
