This project originated on the Holsomback Cousins MyFamily.com website.
In the course of our research, we have found 3 distinct
groupings of origin of this surname in the United States.
For want of a better term, we refer to these as the NC Clan, the SC
Clan, and the WOTMR (West Of The Mississippi River) Clan
Through our DNA project we have connected all of these clans
as sharing the same ancestor.

We have also found at least 60 different spelling variations.
Often find 2-3 variations in the same document
The research project is open to anyone tracing the surname
Holsomback (or one of the many "it sounds about the same"
variations.)
