Harr-Kosak Family Relatives- Background

This project is mainly for testing of relatives to determine their haplotypes for comparison and verification.  Doing Y-DNA and mtDNA lines of all relatives. Families of interest are: Jordan, Kastelic, Kosak, Krhin, Legan, Rogelj, Turk, from Slovenia (and Croatia); Evans, Jano, Suhovic from Western Ukraine / Slovakia; Harr/Horr/Hoar, Dennis, McKee, Millette from USA (traces back to colonial times).  You will likely be added to other surname or maternal line projects as they are discovered or mature.  So more of an initial nesting place to get started and help expand our common genealogical search for ancestors.

While this is not meant as a Harr or Kosak surname project, if you have no other place to join then we welcome you here.  The likelihood of a match to our Harr relatives is small.  Our surname was actually Horr in 1800's, Hoar in 1600-1700's, and Hore / LeHore back in England before that.  A few changed the name to Harr around 1900.  Timothy Peterman has started a Horr/Hoar group DNA project. He is Charles Hoar descent whereas we are Hezekiah Hoar though.  Other surname variations of Hezekiah's descendents are Hoard and Hobart.  Roz Edson's Horr / Hoar surname list on Rootsweb is another great place to look for Harr's; especially those lines that changed their name recently as ours did.  The likelihood of a match to Kosak relatives is high as this surname is so unique.  Note that variants in the English speaking world are likely Kozak and Koshak.
