Project Goals
The Hanvey Family DNA project has been set up to study, trace, and tie together all Hanvey Families (and variant spellings)world wide. Also special attention is given to verifying and tying together by DNA testing the various family branches who descended from William Hanvey, who came to the Colony of South Carolina in the year 1766 from Belfast in the Kingdom of Ireland on the ship Earl of Hillsborough. In many cases, we know these family lines are tied together by family tradition or word of mouth, but lack formal documentation that prove these ties.
