HV1b - MtDNA Match Mates- Background

Background

This project is made up of people embarking on an amazing genetic journey to uncover their common past. All members match either identically or very closely (give or take a few fast mutators and a coding region difference) on their mtdna and are all part of the HV1b haplogroup subclade.

We have a big group that includes people who have done HVR1 and HVR2 mtdna testing, with a very large subset who have had the Full Genome Sequence analysis done. Many of our members have also taken the plunge with the new Family Finder Test. So there is a lot of great data for us to work with.

We are gathering and organizing our genetic and family history information to see what we can learn about our common ancestral paths. Most of this group is of Jewish heritage and so it is even more likely that we have a relatively recent common ancestress. We shall see!
