Project Background
The Finger Surname DNA Project originated from a collaboration between John Vanko and Dwight Finger in 2008. We sought to establish whether our ancestors were related or not. We also wanted to know if other prominent Finger families in the US were related to us. The descendants of Peter Finger "the Pioneer" are pervasive throughout the southern United States. Were these our distant cousins?
There was no paper trail to answer this question. Only DNA could tell us.
