About us

I began this project by entering the National Geographic's Genographic Project and identifying 12 genetic markers. These show my ancestors to have been in Southern Europe 10,000 years ago. I have further identified my haplogroup to be E3b1a which most likely was Jewish and settled in the Rhine valley of Germany sometime in the last 5,000 years. My father's immediate ancestors reportedly were German in origin and the first member in America can be traced to around 1750 AD. This person was "Johanns Paul Ebling" and supposedly came over to America through ports at Amsterdam, England, finally arriving in America through the port at Jamestown, or present day "Newport News" in Virginia. He migrated to the New River Valley in Virginia and settled, leaving a will in 1813.

I dedicate this page and this project to my father PHILLIP K. EPLING, who tirelessly dedicated himself to learning about his ancestry and their origins.
