Denslow

Background

Current Denslow researchers are appreciative for the labor of love conducted in the past and the magnificent published legacy. Dwight Bennett Denslow (1831 – 1863) compiled the first known Denslow Family Genealogy, in 1860, contained in ”roll form, very finely written and carefully gotten up and shows evidences of the most painstaking accuracy and care.” This work became the basis for extensive Denslow Family genealogical research conducted by Ray Vaughn Denslow (1885 - 1960) and George McKenzie Roberts during the early nineteen hundreds and published in 1917.

George McKenzie Roberts became a recognized Denslow Family historian and genealogist. He painstakingly conducted research for forty plus years in both America and England identifying and documenting five distinct Denslow families. A series of McKenzie’s articles, abridged and condensed from his research, appeared in The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record during the 1940’s and concluded in Volume 90, July 1959.
