Formal membership in this project is open to all men of surnames Dennison, Denison, Denniston, or alternate phonetic spellings (except for Denson, for which there is a separate FTDNA project), or to men whose test results closely match to a tested member. The most common variant, "Dennison", has been adopted as the generic spelling, even though for many who spell their name that way, or as "Denison", the original ancestral surname was the Scottish "Denniston".
People with Y-STR test results from testing groups other than FTDNA are also welcome as members of this project on request, although their test results will not be automatically posted to this site. A more comprehensive website for the project is in preparation, which will accomodate them.
Non-tested sponsors of tests for members, or genealogists interested in the surname are also encouraged to participate, and in fact this project essentially exists for those who desire to be active participants, whether they be formal (tested) members, or not.
