Coy Y-DNA Project- Background

This project has been designed to help all Coys find links to ancestors where no paper records exist.
We have Coy participants who go back to Richard Coy and Lucy Lenten of Lincolnshire, England born about 1600. His sons, Matthew and Richard came to America and many American Coy lines descend from them.
We have a Coy from Ireland whose progenitor is John Coy and Hanna Gready.
We have a John Coy who was born in Nine Partners, Dutchess Co., New York. This John Coy has a family story that says he was originally Henry Wiltsie and was kidnapped and changed his name to John Coy. The DNA evidence supports this story.
I invite all interested Coys to participate. Let's break through those brick walls!
