Most Brookshire and Brookshier families believe they descend from a common immigrant ancestor, James Brookshaw, who came to America around 1674 and resided in Somerset County, MD. It is the goal of our Brookshire/Brookshier DNA project to test males with the surname of Brookshaw, Bruckshaw, Brookshire or Brookshier to see if we do indeed come from a common ancestor.
