About us

            (1) to identify kinship between "Brooks" families Worldwide; and (2) to bridge the Atlantic to identify as far as possible the European origins of many "Brooks" families.

The Brooks Surname Project is registered with the Guild of One-Name Studies  The Guild was Founded in 1979 in Britain and has members from all over the world it is recognized as the world's leading organization for one-name studies. Go to the BROOKS One-Name Study.

The two together combine collections on BROOKS families worldwide and correlates family trees to help all researchers come together to share their research furthering a better understanding of everyone’s Ancestry.  Several DNA Project Family trees can be found here.

More British Isles DNA tests are needed to build up a picture of our Surname and their families movements.

DNA Testing is a fantastic way of finding out your genetic origins.  Are you a Viking or a Celt, for instance.  The British Isles have a varied population and we all have a chance to find out more about our Ancestors.  In the Project so far we have a Derbyshire family who has a very rare Haplogroup to the UK.  We can plot their movements throughout Europe and they are expected to have come here with the Romans.

While encouraging more DNA tests from the British Isles we have many tests in the USA and would also like to see more - other countries of interest to our project are Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa & India where we know still is and once was a large number of BROOKS emigrant families.

We would welcome any test from anywhere in the World.  We are here to help and guide you through the process and explain your results.  Please contact us today if you have any questions about joining the Brooks DNA Project.
