Surname DNA testing is the newest tool available to genealogists.
Surname tests allow genealogists to verify their father's father's.......father's paternal ancestry.
Surname DNA information can be very powerful when combined with traditional paper trails.
The Bovitz/Bavec/Bavetz DNA Project is open to all Bovitz, Bavec, and Bavetz families and individuals, of all spelling variations, and from all locations. This is truly a global genealogy project.
This Family Project was started to:
• Help researchers from common or related families work together to find their shared heritage.
• Identify how the participants' families are connected, both genetically and through paper trails.
• Identify and confirm genetic lineages of ancestral families.
• Ultimately catalog pedigrees and genetic connections of all of the known project families.
Participating in a Surname DNA Project provides:
• The participant's genetic DNA, which is very close (and sometimes identical) to his earliest known ancestor.
• The participant's "deep" ancestry (haplogroup), which identifies the paternal ancestor's prehistoric origins.
• A sense of camaraderie, which is particularly strong for those who share a genetic ancestry.
• A wider sense of identity and relationship, as one begins to realize how much one is part of a World Family.
• A chance to compare one's genetic ancestry with those people of one's surname and its spelling variations.
• Knowledge of one's genetic matches which do not share a common surname.
• The gift of understanding one's ancestors better - particularly when the records have been lost or never even existed.

Special pricing is given when ordering through this surname project site. I encourage testers to order the 37 marker test (at a minimum) to provide the most accurate results of finding the most recent common Bovitz, Bavec, or Bavetz ancestor between testers. The more markers, however, the better!
Please note: only males carrying the name of Bovitz, Bavec, or Bavetz and its variations can test.
A Y-DNA test kit will only provide Y-DNA information on your outside paternal line. If your Bovitz/Bavec/Bavetz ancestry was introduced through a female Bovitz/Bavec/Bavetz, a Y-DNA test will not identify your Bovitz/Bavec/Bavetz ancestry.
Females wishing to test their male Bovitz, Bavec, or Bavetz lines need to ask a brother, uncle, father, or appropriate male Bovitz, Bavec, or Bavetz cousin.
