Participation is open to anyone researching the George surname. If you are not a male in the direct line of descent, you may find a male relative to take the test for you. Members are required to submit a pedigree of their male line to the project coordinator, which we will not publish without your informed consent. We will publish an extract of the pedigree containing only the earliest ANCESTOR's name, geography, chronology, and DNA markers, using a project code to protect your anonymity (please see our web site for examples). By sharing information through the George surname project in this manner, you will have many more opportunities to find out about your origins without giving up your anonymity or revealing detailed research that you wish to publish yourself. Of course, we will also give you the opportunity to publish more details about your research on our web site, if you wish.
