Contact Information

Projects create opportunities for people to work with others to explore their common genetic heritage. FamilyTreeDNA encourages customers’ participation in projects. Membership is free and voluntary. Members may join or leave a project at any time.

Project Administrators are unpaid volunteers who have an interest in the history and genealogy of a particular haplogroup, lineage, geographic region, ethnic group, or surname. They have access to tools to compare results and facilitate communication among members.

Please be aware that FamilyTreeDNA has a firm policy against creating new projects that overlap with the themes and goals of existing projects. Prior to submitting your application, please make sure that we do not have an existing project with the same theme. To search our current projects, visit our homepage (www.familytreedna.com) and use the “Project Search” on the right side of the page. If you do find a project with an overlapping theme, we suggest you contact the current group administrator to find out if you can help manage the group.

If you are interested in starting a new project with FamilyTreeDNA, please fill out the following application. After review, you will be notified via email if your new project proposal has been accepted. Please allow up to 10 business days for review. If you have more questions, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions section, here.

You must be a FamilyTreeDNA customer to become a group administrator. Please provide your kit number or the kit number of a FamilyTreeDNA Kit that you manage.
