Description
This “Switzer-2” Project is a distinct project from the “Switzer” is for all Switzer surname variants and similar Swiger names. This project, Switzer-2 has come from behind, continued to grow and we continued to recruit new tests both for new lines and in support of existing participants. We have goals for geography, immigration and mtDNA. Switzer-2 produced results and success stories with proper testing and genealogies and tests in several companies.
The “Switzer” Project administrators ( separate Project) ignored requests to cooperate at an Aug 2003 meet in PA. The Switzer Project Admin’s direct line was tested out as a Non-Paternal Event, from illegitimacy or other event. They used unreliable 12 marker YDNA tests, not upgraded since 2003. In Feb 2008, she stepped down as sole admin and became “honorary’ co-admin but is not active. In over two years, Walsh nor Schweitzer has recruited any tests at the lowest prices ever offered or dealt with significant issues of their own lines genealogies and questionable testing & results.
In total the Switzer project have some 12-15 tests on their web pages that belong to their own lines, are redundant tests or are NPE lines that are not really Switzer DNA. A handful of their 21 members are members of both projects and only a few are part of just the Switzer project, not related to the Coordinators or NPE tests. The information on these few real other Switzer DNA haplotypes are included in overall DNA results on our offsite website. Please help unify Switzer DNA into one cohesive effort into one Project share information between all Switzer lines. We are seeking to have one Switzer project in FTDNA, to everyone’s common benefit.
The Kogel & Schweitzer DNA project with the Schweitzer and Switzer names is unauthorized by FTDNA.
Requirements
A Surname Project traces members of a family that share a common surname. Since surnames are passed down from father to son like the Y-chromosome, this test is for males taking a Y-DNA test. Females do not carry their father's Y-DNA and acquire a new surname by way of marriage, so the tested individual must be a male that wants to check his direct paternal line (father's father's father's...) with a Y-DNA12, Y-DNA37, or Y-DNA67 marker test. Females who would like to check their direct paternal line can have a male relative with this surname order a Y-DNA test. Females can also order an mtDNA test for themselves such as the mtDNA or the mtDNAPlus test and participate in an mtDNA project.
