  1. What is the Projects - Join page? faq id: 2032

    The Projects - Join page allows you to find and join group projects managed by unpaid volunteers who have an interest in the history and genealogy of a particular haplogroup, lineage, geographic region, ethnic group, or surname.

    • Matching Projects - These are projects that include a surname that matches your last name.
    • Search - FOR A SURNAME You may use this search to find additional projects.
    • Surname Projects - This is an alphabetical index of Surname projects.
    • Y-DNA Geographical Projects - This is an alphabetical index of geographic projects based on direct paternal lines.
    • mtDNA Geographical Projects - This is an alphabetical index of geographic projects based on direct maternal lines.
    • DUAL (MTDNA AND Y-DNA) Geographical Projects - This is an alphabetical index of geographic projects based on direct maternal and direct paternal lines.
    • mtDNA Lineage Projects - This is an alphabetical index of projects which study a particular direct maternal lineage.
    • Y-DNA Haplogroup Projects - This is an alphabetical index of projects for the study of Y-DNA haplogroups.
    • mtDNA Haplogroup Projects - This is an alphabetical index of projects for the study of mtDNA haplogroups.

    The Projects – Manage page allows you to view the projects to which you belong, access the project websites, and leave group projects. Your group projects are shown in a table.

    • Name - This is the name of the project.
    • Website - This is the project's website.
    • Leave Project - Clicking this link will remove you from the project.

    If you have already tested with Family Tree DNA and wish to join a project:

    1. Login to your myFTDNA account. (https://www.familytreedna.com/login.aspx)
    2. Select Join from the Projects menu on the menu bar.
    3. Browse and search projects to join.

    The public websites of the projects to which you belong are shown on the Projects - Manage page. To view them:

    1. Login to your myFTDNA account. (https://www.familytreedna.com/login.aspx)
    2. Select Manage from the Projects menu on the menu bar.
    3. Look in the Website column beside the name of each group project.

  6. How do I remove myself from a group project? faq id: 2039

    You may remove yourself from any group project to which you belong on the Projects - Manage page. To do so:

    1. Login to your myFTDNA account. (https://www.familytreedna.com/login.aspx)
    2. Select Manage from the Projects menu on the menu bar.
    3. Look beside the name of the group project you wish to leave for the Leave Project link.
    4. Click the Leave Project link, and confirm your choice.

    Note: This must be done while you are logged into your own account as group project administrators are not able to remove project members from projects other than their own.
