2nd International Conference on Genetic Genealogy
for Family Tree DNA Group Administrators

to be held in

Washington, D.C.
on November 4-5, 2005

HOUSTON, May 10 (For Immediate Release) - Family Tree DNA, the leading organization in the field of Genetic Genealogy, is pleased to announce the 2nd International Conference on Genetic Genealogy for Surname Project Administrators to be held on November 4-5, 2005 at the headquarters of the National Geographic Society (NGS) in Washington, D.C. The two-day event will feature leading experts in the field making presentations on a variety of topics related to the use of DNA for family history and deep ancestral origins.

The choice of the NGS headquarters to host this year’s Conference reflects Family Tree DNA’s participation as the testing outfit for public input in the Genographic Project, a 5-year research partnership between National Geographic and IBM to study human migratory history.

Among other speakers, population geneticist, Spencer Wells, author of “The Journey of Man”, National Geographic Explorer in Residence and Project Director of the Genographic Project will be talking to conference participants about this project, its goals, and how the genealogical community can participate.

The Conference on Genetic Genealogy for Surname Project Administrators is open to genealogists from all over the world who currently manage Surname Projects at Family Tree DNA and want to learn more about the advances of DNA testing for Genealogy and Anthropology.

With over 40,000 Y-DNA and mtDNA tests performed, Family Tree DNA is the only organization in the field of Genetic Genealogy that has consistently offered the emerging science that enables genealogists around the world to advance their research. Since its inception, in April of 2000, when it developed the commercial application of what until then was only available for academic and scientific research, Family Tree DNA has been associated with Arizona Research Labs and Dr. Michael Hammer, head of the Genomics Analysis and Technology Core at the University of Arizona, as well as some of the world's leading authorities in the fields of Genetics and Anthropology.
