1. What is “Members Subgrouping?”

Members Subgrouping is an additional option available for Group Administrators. With this tool, you can sort participants into sub-groups within your project. From the Members Subgrouping section you can create, manage, and delete subgroups. You can enter participants into one subgroup, and you can choose a background color that will be used to color code your list of results in the “Generate Y-DNA Results for copy & paste section.” Non-grouped members will appear as “Unassigned Members.”

2. How do I create a subgroup?

  1. Type the subgroup’s name into the field labeled “Add Subgroup” and click Add.
  2. Select a color by clicking on the “Select Color” link and clicking on the name of the color you want to use.
  3. Check the boxes next to the participants you want to be added to the subgroup. Or, if you want to add all members, check the box at the head of the column labeled “Add” to select all members.
  4. Click the button labeled “Add Members.” Your subgroup has now been created.

3. How do I manage a subgroup?

  1. Click on the subgroup’s name in the “Members Subgrouping” section.
    • To delete a member from the subgroup, check the box next to the participant’s name and click on the button labeled “Delete Member.”
    • To add a member to the subgroup, check the box next to the participant’s name in the “Members not in subgroup” list and click the button labeled “Add Members.”
    • To change the color used in the background of the Y-DNA results chart, click on the “Select Color” link and click on the name of the color you want to use. Note: Multiple subgroups can use the same color.
  2. To delete a subgroup, go to the “Members Subgrouping” section, check the box next to the subgroup name, and click the button labeled “Delete Subgroups.”
